Tennis is probably my favorite sport to talk about and play. So I'm doing a blog post on that for once. In Davis Cup news Austria finally found a place to host France in the first round of the Cup. Unfortunately that place happens to be in an aircraft hanger, that's currently being used for aircraft repairs. First my biggest question is: Why, if France got to the finals of the Davis Cup last year do they have to go to Austria? Why isn't Austria coming to them? Second is, the entire reason that they had to use an aircraft hanger was that they wanted to play on clay courts. I get it they want the advantage, but that being said is it really worth the work when they can play in a stadium that's already there, but on hard court? Also in Davis Cup news, Rafael Nadal (#1 in the world) announced that he will definitely be playing in at least the first round, which will be hosted in his home town of Mallorca, anyone think this was a set up to get him to play? In Spanish and American news as the draw came out today for Davis Cup both countries immediately got intrigued by the possibility of a Spain vs. US quarterfinal match in Barcelona, but for the Americans to win they'll have to win on clay against hands down the best clay court playing country in world... how does that look for the USA... not great. In non-Davis Cup news, Justine Henin (Belgium) announced that she is still battling a lingering elbow injury she suffered at Wimbledon this, past year. As many of you may know by now, Serena Williams will not be attending this years Australian Open due to a foot injury she suffered after winning Wimbledon. She didn't attend the US Open of last year either.
