Tennis

Tennis is probably my favorite sport to talk about and play. So I'm doing a blog post on that for once. In Davis Cup news Austria finally found a place to host France in the first round of the Cup. Unfortunately that place happens to be in an aircraft hanger, that's currently being used for aircraft repairs. First my biggest question is: Why, if France got to the finals of the Davis Cup last year do they have to go to Austria? Why isn't Austria coming to them? Second is, the entire reason that they had to use an aircraft hanger was that they wanted to play on clay courts. I get it they want the advantage, but that being said is it really worth the work when they can play in a stadium that's already there, but on hard court? Also in Davis Cup news, Rafael Nadal (#1 in the world) announced that he will definitely be playing in at least the first round, which will be hosted in his home town of Mallorca, anyone think this was a set up to get him to play? In Spanish and American news as the draw came out today for Davis Cup both countries immediately got intrigued by the possibility of a Spain vs. US quarterfinal match in Barcelona, but for the Americans to win they'll have to win on clay against hands down the best clay court playing country in world... how does that look for the USA... not great. In non-Davis Cup news, Justine Henin (Belgium) announced that she is still battling a lingering elbow injury she suffered at Wimbledon this, past year. As many of you may know by now, Serena Williams will not be attending this years Australian Open due to a foot injury she suffered after winning Wimbledon. She didn't attend the US Open of last year either.
So what did you think? Any comments? If yes please comment below.

More Football

I know I promised that I would do College Football, however what I didn't realize was that there would only be five games with top 30 teams in games. So I'm doing more football. The Patriots had all ready locked up the AFC East, and the Jets had not yet clinched a playoff spot. But this week the Jets, even though they lost, they clinched a spot because the Jacksonville Jaguars lost too. In the AFC South the Colts, have not yet clinched their division, but with a win next week, or a Jacksonville Jaguars loss or a tie the Colts will win their division. In the AFC North, the division is still up for grabs, but, with a Pittsburgh win, they clinch their division. But if Pittsburgh looses and Baltimore win, Baltimore will clinch the division. But if the two teams tie in record the Pittsburgh Steelers will clinch the division. In the AFC West, the Chiefs already cinched the knot in their division because not only did they win, but the Chargers also lost. The Patriots also won, which clinched that they will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs with a win last week. The winner of AFC North will clinch the other bye week in the AFC.
See Ya next year

Football

So Thursday night football is over and the San Diego Chargers won 34-7. So here's what we can draw from this, San Diego is still very in the playoff hunt. But San Francisco is probably out of it, well not really with the NFC west as bad as they are its tough to count anyone in that division out yet. After all they're only in third in they're division, behind Seattle and St. Louis. On injury notes Maurice Jones-Drew of the Jacksonville Jaguars missed practice today with a sore knee, and Jack Del Rio coach of the Jaguars said it will be a game time decision and if MJD plays at all he's playing time will be limited. Also David Garrard is listed as Questionable for Jacksonville also because of a tight hamstring. So who's more important. To me Maurice Jones-Drew is more important because this is a team with a solid running game and decent passing game. However this team without a running game is nothing they need MJD to show up and be healthy otherwise, they're relying on a second or third string RB to lead this team against a Colts defense that's getting better by the week. I still think that the Colts are going to win this game even if the Jaguars have Jones-Drew and Garrard; but that being said when you're playing the Jaguars you've got to be careful because as we've seen in the last couple of games they can come from behind and totally smash you in the second half. So I pick the Colts but I've given them fare warning, BE CAREFUL. Next time it's all about the bowl games in College Football

Holiday Season

We as humans just don't know what it is about the holiday season, what about it is so addicting? The christmas tree's outside lining the streets, no. All the wonderful food that you get to eat, no not for me. Te fact that you get to go away for two weeks, well, now were getting there. The sports, that's it you got it. Has anyone besides me noticed that the holiday season always brings out the best in sports, weather it's the winter classic in hockey. Crunch time in the football season. Mid season for college basketball, or the the college football bowl games. Something big always happens this time of year. So for this special post I'm talking about it all. So to start I'm going to start with hockey. So for those of you die hard hockey fans have any of you noticed that all the teams that started off really well are now on either a losing streak or just snapped one. Well if you haven't I HAVE. And its pretty disappointing because I'm a hockey fan and to see good teams struggle sucks, a lot. The Blues happen to be one of my favorite teams unfortunately they are one of those teams. But it's not all their fault. In their defense, they have only three guys that haven't missed a game because of injury. Their two best shooters, T.J. Oshie and David Perron haven't played a game since early to mid November. Oh and the fact that their star goalie isn't shining like he's supposed to. In the Eastern conference, The Toronto Maple Leafs had undoubtedly the best start of the season however since losing there first game of the season nothing positive has come out of that club. Also, the team is going to have to give up a load of players if they hope to bring in stars for free agent singing in July. Did anyone notice that there top scorer is Phil Kessel. How about the fact that the second he leaves Boston, Tim Thomas starts playing well in goal, all I can say is that man is cursed. And how about those, Sharks a team with one of the best first lines in hockey is now out of playoff position. I know why, because besides for that great first line they have NO ONE, zero, zilch the only reason they've won any games at all is because they've gotten fairly good goaltending from Antti Niemi, and Antero Nittymaki. Oh how bout the fact that there first line is the highest scoring line in all of the NHL. So out of this I have one question about this team. Why? So one the good notes in Hockey, The Chicago Blackhawks are playing better by the day and Patrick Kane has really proven to be a star. That being said they still need to work out the kinks in goal. But topping my list is The Detroit Red Wings, I say this because, well they have everything you need. They have top notch defenders, two world class goalies, and arguably one of the best players now-a-days in Pavel Datsyuk. Did anyone notice that my two teams listed as some of the best are the St. Louis Blues' arch rivals, well I did and my dad is going to kill me for saying this but well they might actually be better that the Blues. OK had enough Hockey yet? Well now we move in the Football. It's crunch time in the NFL and out of all the games there are in the NFL this week my best game pick is Indianapolis vs Jacksonville. This is because for the Colts this is a win or go home game. If they win they totally keep their chances at a playoff spot alive especially if the NY Jets lose. A win for the Colts actually no matter what if they tie for record with the Jaguars will guarantee a colts playoff spot. By the way was this the most predictable Peyton Manning turn around. I mean he has dominated the NFL for years and so what 11 interceptions in three weeks, I still think everyone saw this coming. But in other big games on thursday night, the CHargers will be playing the 49ers yes this will be almost defiantly a blow out but its incredible that a 6-10 team might win the NFC west, Yes that proves it that division needs help. But for the Chargers this is a win or go home game, there already losing the tiebreaker to other AFC west playoff contender, the Kansas City Chiefs and with a lose and a Kansas win they are almost eliminated from playoff contention. Oh and if the Colts and CHiefs win with a Chargers lose, San diego is out. But really there's nothing like an NFL game thats being played at the wrong stadium. The Vikings and Bears will play at Minnesota University due to the roof problem at the metro dome which by the way is now being referred to as a a little problem. WHAT!! A roof collapsing and sending half the field into snow is not a little problem someone could have been killed!!!! So onto college football, as the BCS National championship nears I think I'm the only person on the universe that thinks Oregon is going to win. With Cam Newton winning every award imaginable I think that it's just going to put more pressure on him to preform and normally that doesn't end will for him. I also might not be the only person that thinks that Stanford should be in the rose bowl. This is the number 4 team in the country and your putting them in at the orange bowl against VT you've got to be kidding me at best this will be totally Stanford domination. This is the kind of team that should be in the rose bowl playing against TCU. Finally College Basketball, as the number one and two are enjoying there down time the rest of the NCAA have big games. Duke #1 has only one game in the next week and two in the following week. This team might actually go undefeated and still not be the #1. But with Kyrie Irving out this might actually help as he will have time to heal his injury in his big toe. Well I've got pretty much everything done
Happy Holidays

Bracketology (My Way)

So last week for my picks I did fairly well. This week I'm going to a new sport College Basketball. So on the male side I'm a huge Duke fan although they are the most hated team in College Basketball they are respectably the best team out there they get my number 1 seed. For my number two I'm going to go with Syracuse because of their depth on the bench and high scores. And this is a special team to me because despite losing there best player last year Wesley Johnson, players like Scoop Jardine and Kris Joseph have stepped right in and done a great job. Plus this is an underrated team for some reason this team is ranked 8th in the AP behind lose teams and this is an 8-0 team. Coming in at 3rd i would have to put Pittsburgh and this is because they've gotten outstanding results from veteran players that stayed for a fourth year. Coming in at 4th is Ohio State because this is a consistent team that no matter what is just going to grind it out every game even if they aren't playing well. So next and lastly I'm going to do 5-8. At 5th is Kansas this power house is looking for redemption after a disappointing tournament where they lost in the third round to Northern Iowa. This is a deep team that your never going to just walk over. At 6th is UConn because there getting outstanding play from young freshmen and veteran juniors and seniors. At 7th is Kansas State, this is because of a lose to Duke however that's a respectable lose because it's to the Number 1 in the country. The Hawks have been getting consistent play from senior star Jacob Pullen, and I expect to see them in the deep rounds of the NCAA tournament. And finally at 8th is Michigan State, State has suffered some tough loses (Duke and Syracuse) and have fallen from number two in the rankings all the way to 8th. Well two bad for them because they have an extremely hard schedule and they're going to need to step it up if they want good position in the NCAA tournament. Well that's all for this week, and I wish the best to all the teams as the bulk of the season starts to come. See Ya

Week 12 football

Okay, Hi there sports fans, so for my first post what I'm going to do is I'm going to break down the 12th week in football. So as most of you all know three games were on Thursday, and those were New England vs. Detroit, New Orleans vs. Dallas, and The New York Jets vs the Cincinnati Bengals. New England, New Orleans, and New York won all of their games. So I'm going to start now with Sunday. So the first game is Green Bay vs. Atlanta, and I'm going to pick Atlanta, because going into this game they have more momentum plus they have a solid QB and a skilled RB giving them the edge in this game so I say Atlanta 23-10.

The next game is Pittsburgh vs. Buffalo this game is a gimme to me because although Buffalo has been playing much better recently they still don't have enough fire power to beat a power house in Pittsburgh so I'm going to say Pittsburgh wins 31-16.

Next is Carolina vs Cleveland this ones tough because they both really suck. But I'm going to pick Cleveland because Cleveland has a better QB and there defense and special teams have a slight edge. So I pick Cleveland to win 20-10.

The next one is Jacksonville vs. The New York Giants, this ones a tough one because both teams could be much better but they both have edges against each other. But I pick the Giants because their QB is better and they have a more effective passing and defense game. So I pick the Giants 27-13.

Okay so next up is Minnesota vs. Washington and this is a toss up game to me because I want to see how the Vikings play without Brad Childress but despite the change of coach I still have to pick Washington because they have the better record with more wins and more quality wins so I pick Washington to win 17-10.

So before I bore all of you to death I'm going to skip to the late game Indianapolis vs San Diego, I pick Indy because Indy's offense is to strong for the Chargers defense and if their defense plays decently this is a big win for the Colts, I pick Indy winning 31-13. So that's all for this week next week I'm updating you in NCAA Basketball. Bye!
